Bill Rippon

Chief Information Security Officer, IBM Research
Bill Rippon joined IBM in 1985 at the T.J. Watson Research Center, and has over 30 years of experience in the fields of information technology and services. Through his leadership and technical expertise, Bill has played a key role in the development and deployment of many advanced solutions at IBM. Over the years, Bill has developed extensive experience in the areas of voice, video and data networking, as well as information security. In his current role as the Chief Information Security Officer for the Research Division, Bill leads the innovative, transformative and operational efforts surrounding privacy and security, while embracing and supporting the division's "Living Lab" model. Bill works to foster a culture of privacy, security and compliance in the organization that embodies the key tenets: Identify - Respect - Protect - Detect - React. In addition, Bill represents the Research Division on various corporate and divisional privacy and security efforts and holds various certifications, including CISSP and CIPP/US.
