Chris Esemplare

Vice President and General Manager, Global Security Services
Chris Esemplare currently serves as Global Vice President and General Manager of IBM Security Services. In this role Chris manages all aspects of the Security Services business including strategy, offering management, sales and marketing, investment planning and execution. This team works with clients around the world to provide consulting, systems integration, and managed and cloud services. The team also includes cyber threat intelligence analysts from various disciplines. Chris started working with IBM’s Security Services in 2007 with the acquisition and integration of Internet Security Systems. He led the growth of ISS, transforming the business from a country-based model to a globally integrated practice. Today, IBM Security Services has the broadest and deepest services capability in the industry with over 3,000 professionals in the practice and growing. The Security practice is recognized within IBM as a top investment area and strategic capability of the firm. Previous to leading and transforming the security business, Chris was part of the team that sold the IBM Personal Computer Division to Lenovo and then managed the China-based company as a client. Before that, he managed IBM’s Electronics Industry team in North America. Chris earned a B.A. from Brown University in Business Economics and Organizational Behavior and Management. He completed a year-long IBM Executive Leadership Program at Harvard Business School in 2001. While at Brown, Chris was a four-year member of the nationally ranked varsity lacrosse program, and he currently coaches youth lacrosse. He is married and the father of three boys.
