Jim Doran

Distinguished Engineer - Hybrid Cloud Security and Compliance via DevSecOps, IBM
Jim Doran is an IBM Distinguished engineer in the IBM Research division. Jim leads a worldwide research team to develop new approaches to cloud based application security and compliance. Jim joined IBM in 1988 with prior development experience. He has held several architecture and development positions within IBM including chief architect for the intranet portal; Jim led a small team that launched the creation of IBM’s internal ‘killer app’ called Bluepages. Bluepages went on to become part of the IBM connections product offering and regularly receives more than 1 billion API hits daily. Jim also created and patented our internal single sign-on solution. In 2008 Jim created the first large-scale IBM internal cloud called the Research Compute Cloud / RC2. RC2 was one of the first self-service IaaS style cloud with internal chargeback. Jim is a master inventor at IBM and holds a B.S. in Computer Science from William Paterson University.
