Today, the AppConfig Community released its annual report, exhibiting strong growth across all associated membership categories: independent software vendors (ISVs), mobile application developers and enterprise mobility management (EMM) providers. Membership has soared to 90 ISVs, more than 1,400 developers and 19 EMM providers since the community’s inception just a year ago.
AppConfig Reports Rapid Growth
When IBM helped co-found and launch the AppConfig Community in February 2016, its goal was to establish a common approach for mobile app configuration and security based on native operating system (OS) standards in Android and iOS. Since then, the community has simplified enterprise app development and deployment to accelerate the adoption of transformative apps in the enterprise.
In just one year, the AppConfig Community membership base has grown dramatically:
- From 60 to 90 ISVs;
- From 160 to 1,400 individual developers;
- From four to 19 EMM providers; and
- From one OS to two.
The Advantages of Native OS Standards
The benefit of using Android and iOS native OS standards for app configuration and security is that they remain consistent across EMM solutions and apps. This simplifies development for ISVs, who can use one approach across EMM solutions rather than create separate apps for each. It also simplifies deployment for IT organizations, who can apply the same approach across apps deployed to their end users rather than separate approaches for each ISV. The real winners, however, are end users, who can enjoy a seamless out-of-the-box experience with the apps they rely on for work.
