Forrester just published its first ever Security Analytics Wave. IBM Security is proud to hold a top right position, with the highest scores in solution strength and vision of all the evaluated products.

Forrester developed and applied a 36-criteria evaluation of security analytics (SA) providers and, as a result, identified the 11 top providers. Of those 11, IBM was rated as a leader in the evaluation.

Breaking Down the Security Analytics Wave

In a separate survey cited in the report, Forrester surveyed 579 global network security decision-makers and found that 64 percent of respondents are implementing or expanding their security information and event management (SIEM) and SA implementations in the near term. Meanwhile, an additional 17 percent plan to implement SIEM and SA solutions within the next 12 months. These findings validate the innovation, focus, dedication and investment we make in our QRadar Security Analytics platform.

Security Analytics Deconstructed

SA can mean a lot of things to a lot of people, but IBM believes it has to have a few core components, which are in lockstep with some of the components identified in the Forrester Security Analytics Wave. These components include user and entity behavior analytics, real-time and historical threat detection, big data capabilities, threat intelligence, and security automation and response.

What It Takes to Be a Leader

We continue to put a lot of blood, sweat and tears — happy ones — into the advanced development of QRadar, leading to its evolution from the early 2000s network behavior anomaly detection, to the late 2000s SIEM, to today’s only comprehensive cognitive security analytics solution on the market, QRadar Advisor with Watson, which is powering the cognitive security operations center (SOC).

“IBM has an ambitious strategy for security analytics that includes cognitive security capabilities from its Watson initiative and security automation from its Resilient Systems acquisition,” the Security Analytics Wave report read.

We believe being recognized by Forrester as a leader in the Security Analytics Wave shows our customers that we are dedicated to providing them with the best security analytics and intelligence the market has to offer. Protecting your data and environment from unknown external risks

3 min read - Cybersecurity professionals always keep their eye out for trends and patterns to stay one step ahead of cyber criminals. The IBM X-Force does the same when working with customers. Over the past few years, clients have often asked the team about threats outside their internal environment, such as data leakage, brand impersonation, stolen credentials and phishing sites. To help customers overcome these often unknown and unexpected risks that are often outside of their control, the team created Cyber Exposure Insights…
